Larry Lee and The Leesures
Beyond this page, which claims he was born in 1938 and died in 1996, I couldn't dig up much on Larry Lee and The Leesures, so once again it's time to cue up the liner notes (edited for length):
"Larry Lee's career began in his home town, London, Ontario, singing and playing guitar on Saturday mornings over Radio Station CFPL. At the age of fifteen, he formed his first group - a western band. As the group became more proficient...Larry had the pleasure of working with the Everly Brothers, Johnny Cash and went on a tour with Marty Robbins.
Larry...formed a nite club rock 'n roll act in the fall of 1959. Since then it's been a hard, steady climb and he has appeared at many of the top Canadian clubs.
'The Leesures have just got to be the greatest!', says Larry. He's right, too. Not just as tremendous musicians, but as down to earth nice guys. There's the great guitar stylings of John Dee; the driving drumming of Ray Fennell; the piano and organ doubling of Billy Diel; the swinging bass of Chuck Daniels and the latest addition of Andy Wilson on tenor sax.
Larry Lee and the Leesure, working as a team, give everything they have as they swing from the first groove to the last. Consequently, this album contains twelve exciting reasons why you will enjoy Larry Lee and the Leesures.

"Just A Little Too Much" and "Just The Snap Of Your Fingers" are up-tempo rockabilly tunes with a strong Buddy Holly influence, while "I Get So Lonely" and "I'm Gonna Love You Right" are slower, bluesier numbers. The cover of Jimmy Reed's "Come Love" is the highlight, with the band working up a smoky blues groove and some nice production work on the echoed fade-out at the end of the song.

I'm Gonna Love You Right
I Get So Lonely

Hi, there...I am currently trying to track down anything recorded at Newberry Sound Studio -- that was my Dad's studio in toronto. He has since passed away and I would like to collect any of the records he engineered. Do you know of any list of Canadian recordings? I have no idea how many albums like this exist. thanks...if you have any advice email me at jason@crehs.on.ca.
I am the bass player, Chuck Daniels, on the album "Larry Lee and the Leesures Number 1. I'd like to make 2 corrections to the album notes The guitar player was actually Red Shea who went on to become the guitar player with Gordon Lightfoot and Tommy Hunter. The sax player was Al Falconi from North Bay. Also, I wrote the song "I Get So Lonely".
